I finally bit the bullet and decided to update my PC. I’ve been rocking my Intel DX79SI motherboard for seven years along with an i7-3820. They’ve treated me well. I won the mobo from an Evil Geniuses Twitter contest all those years ago. It is a great board, only problem is that the LGA 2011 socket it uses was discontinued not too long after I built my PC. Needless to say, it made updating my PC a little bit more expensive.
Well another esports team giveway came along and I won some cold hard cash from TSM the other week. Naturally this lead to a brand new Intel i7-9700k and an MSI Z390 Pro Carbon. I added some new Corsair RGB memory as well.
I thought installation would be pretty easy. I’ve done this a few times now. Boy oh boy was I wrong. Sure the physical installation was easy, other than screwing up the order of the JFP1 connections… I thought the mobo was DOA.
Once I got that straightened out, Windows refused to boot. System restore wouldn’t work. Even a clean install would freeze two minutes in. I was searching the internet for DAYS trying to find a solution. And then I stumbled on an eerily similar situation on some corner of the web. Needless to say, I’m a dumbass. The MSI Bios needed an update…
All is well now. Things are running smoothly and I’ll get a picture up soon. Need to clean the “office” first. Now time to test the stream.
